Questions and Answers

How does counselling help?

Counselling is a place where you can talk about the difficulties in your life and identify where you are stuck. It is a non-judgemental space where feelings and issues can be aired in safety and worked through. Therapy helps us find our inner strengths and get going once again: a journey of self-awareness which uncovers fresh energy and new directions.

When will things improve?

This will depend on a number of factors including the reason you came to therapy and your readiness for change. I hope to facilitate the exploration of your needs, the challenges you experience and how they impact your world. Reflecting on painful feelings can be very challenging and also very rewarding – a catalyst for new beginnings. This sometimes provides more self-awareness and thereby offer you choices to consider other ways of being, which may ultimately encourage change.

Is counselling confidential?

Confidentiality is a core element of counselling. All personal information is treated in the strictest confidence. In the first session, I clearly explain the occasions when confidentiality might be broken and will answer any questions you may have.

Do I need to be referred by my GP?

While I do take referrals from GPs and other medical and non-medical professionals, you may self-refer to me directly.

How much does it cost?

My fee is €60. The fee is payable at the end of each session.
